Medal Design:
White enameled Maltese cross with black borders and gilt edges, set within a green enameled laurel wreath with red berries.

Central medallion (obverse) features a gilt five-pointed star on black background, surrounded by a light blue enamel ring.

Reverse medallion inscription:
“MERITE CENTRAFRICAIN 1959”

Translation:
“Central African Merit 1959”

Suspended from a green enameled laurel wreath and mounted on original commander's neck ribbon in red with multicolor stripes.

A small French hallmark is present on the suspension element, confirming Paris manufacture by A. Bertrand, one of the official French makers of African orders during the independence era.
